PATS PEAK SKI CLUB

WELCOME FROM THE PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Welcome to the 2007-2008 Pats Peak Race Program!  We have a fine group of athletes returning as well as many new faces.  We are excited for another great season of fun, powder, racing, and learning.

We are pleased to have returning coaches Zach Fronton, Jon Routon, Dave Hughes, Jay Stewart, John Cooke, Mark Cormier and Jim Whalley back on board for the upcoming season.  We welcome new coaches James Tautkus, Bob Cummings, Mike Hitchcock and Justin Neely.

Each coach will be assigned to a contact group of athletes and is responsible as such for all phases of that athlete’s development.  While all coaches will coach all athletes at some point during the season, we strive to make all coaching dialog consistent with what that athlete is working on with the contact coach.  Please communicate through your contact coaches.

Training sessions will be the same as those in the past, with midweek evening training sessions beginning in January and going through February.   I’s and II’s can train Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings,  JIII’s are welcome to train Tuesdays and Thursdays and Buddy Werner League racers are welcome on Wednesday evenings.  Training will start at 5:30 and conclude at 7:00.  As in the past, night training is optional, although highly recommended.   Training and racing schedules offer over 200 hours of racing and training over the season, and athletes may participate in any, or all, of the schedule, according to their own goals and aspirations.

We will have a Christmas Camp over that holiday period and if you have friends that might be interested in trying ski racing they are welcome to train with the club for the cost of a lift ticket only.   It is a great way for those who may be interested in the sport to see if it is something they would enjoy.

We will continue our team parent program for each age group.  These parents will be helping to coordinate communication, social opportunities, lodging and lift group rates, to be available at the Alpine Training Center to answer questions and help to make the ATC and the club in general a welcoming place for all.  Please feel free to contact your child’s “team parent” if you have any questions.

Here’s to another great season!  Thanks for coming on board this year!

Warm Regards,

Deb Flanders
